Former Oiler's fundraising efforts helping many people

Re: “Paralyzed cyclist inspires donors to join his cause,” Oct. 1

The Spinal Cord Injury Treatment Centre (Northern Alberta) Society (SCITCS), the “never say never” registered society, has provided functional electrical stimulation (FES) stationary bikes including an Xcite to nine different facilities, including the YMCA, since 1990.

Hundreds, if not thousands, have benefited from this mode of exercise over the past 32 years, including people with MS and other debilitating conditions. All of this is partly due to Craig Simpson, former Oiler, who has raised money on behalf of SCITCS for over 30 years through an annual Never Say Never golf tournament.
