LETO TO PLAY LAGERFELD IN BIOPIC

Jared Leto will play fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld in a biopic that he's also set to produce. Lagerfeld was the former artistic director of Chanel, and died in 2019 at age 85.

“I feel like this is a full-circle moment, and Karl would be proud of what we are doing,” Leto said. “Karl was an artist. Period. He was a fashion designer, he was a photographer, he was an artist. There was no defining him.”

The film is still in the early development stages, and a director hasn't yet been named. The movie is, however, backed by the Karl Lagerfeld fashion house, which said it chronicles “key relationships in Karl Lagerfeld's life, told through an unpredictable lens.”

Leto added that the biopic would “hone in on key relationships that convey different parts of his life.”
