Clevinger, White Sox agree to contract

The Chicago White Sox bolstered their rotation, agreeing to a one-year contract with right-hander Mike Clevinger, a person familiar with the agreement told The Associated Press.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity Monday because the deal was subject to a successful physical.

The 31-year-old Clevinger went 7-7 with a 4.33 earnedrun average in 23 games, including 22 starts, for San Diego this year.

He missed the 2021 season after he had Tommy John surgery.

Chicago is looking to bounce back from a disappointing 2022 season, when it went 81-81 and finished 11 games back of surprising American League Central champion Cleveland.

Clevinger slots into a rotation that likely will include Dylan Cease, Lance Lynn, Lucas Giolito and Michael Kopech.

The heads of the PGA Tour and DP World Tours are scheduled to confer with leaders of at least three of golf 's four majors to discuss a game plan to deal with the LIV Golf Series, Telegraph Sport reported Monday.

The British publication said the meeting will take place next week at The Match in Florida.

Set to attend, per the report, are PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan; Keith Pelley, chief executive of the DP World Tour; and the heads of the U.S. Golf Association, the PGA of America and R&A, which run the U.S. Open, PGA Championship and The Open Championship, respectively. It was unknown whether Fred Ridley, the chair of Augusta National Golf Club, will be there to represent the Masters.

On the agenda is brainstorming the next steps of their response to the Saudi-funded LIV series. Items that could be on the table for discussion include continued participation for LIV players at the major tournaments.

The organizers of the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics said they would launch a streamlined public ticketing operation ahead of the event, with the first draw for a total of 10 million tickets for sale starting on Dec. 1.

Anyone in the world can enter the draw, which ends on Jan. 31, 2023, and three million tickets in packages will effectively be available in February. Tickets will be obtainable from a single platform and will not be available through ticket resellers.

In past Olympics, early morning sessions for some less popular sports struggled to fill the stands, leaving many empty seats and the broadcasters unhappy with the TV images.

Half of the tickets will cost C$70 or less, while prices for a three-session package start at $100.

The French state has already booked 400,000 of the remaining tickets, which also go to Olympic stakeholders, the official hospitality provider and sponsors, organizers said.

The Paris Olympics will be held from July 26 to Aug. 11.
